Age is Just A Number!

“Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don’t mind it doesn’t matter” Satchel Paige

“Great work is done by people who are not afraid to be great”; the quote is deemed to be true when we talk about potential in teenagers all over the world. Teenagers everywhere strive for betterment for their society and their country and most have not failed to do so. However, when engaged in conversations with elders, we hear them saying, “you are too young to understand a certain thing” or “you cannot become a leader unless you are of a certain age” that directly discourages them. These discourses are certainly something that has to be avoided and one must understand their creative thinking, communicating with them, motivating them by giving examples of different teen leaders, and most importantly, making them understand that they can do anything if they are willing to.

Teens can drive other crazily. If a teen doesn’t get held back by the opinions of others and focuses on their drive, they can certainly encourage others as well to do so. They have the potential to spread awareness about the most important things that people neglect. They like infecting each aspect with positivity and a sense of responsibility. Seeing a teen fighting for enhancement motivates others to do the same. It motivates teens to further spread awareness and makes most elderly to question or otherwise change their beliefs.

Teen climate activist Greta Thunberg who was able to lead a worldwide climate strike that included 4 million people across 161 countries has led to a huge number of people fighting for climate change. Greta herself has inspired many- not only limited to youths but different leaders of the world – to address climate change and do something for a change. Likewise, Malala Yousafzai– an activist for the right to education especially for females was shot on the forehead when on the way to school later went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17.

Looking at the examples of great teen leaders, everyone should believe that there are creative and inspiring teens in their very society. And if one wants to strive for a change, people should not at all belittle them because of their age. And avoid telling them that they can only fight for change at a certain age, they are too young to do that now. Because when they hear things like that, they think that they are not potent enough. These are just a few teens among millions in the world who strive for a change and encouraged many to make a change. But oftentimes, not all children can take that one step because of various issues that exist such as many not understanding their creativity, not making enough communication or simply avoiding these discourses with them.

Moreover, they need to be communicated through. Your knowledge should be passed on. And these are the knowledge that is not just limited to their textbooks, but knowledge regarding their rights, regarding different problems existing in the first place and what they can do to tackle those, on politics, history, even technology and the future of humanity. Doing so, it makes youth search for more knowledge, makes them realize that they have a lot to learn about, becomes aware to make a change, and to read more. And if teens are willing to do great, nothing can stop them from doing so.

The most important thing in life is the realization of its own capacity and capability. Age is just a number. It is not the definition of your life. Also, it is not an indicator that determines your potentiality, capability, skills, and so on. If we are determined and focused, age has never become the restriction for individuals to achieve their goals and success.

Age is not and should never be our restriction to achieve success. Age is nothing but just on a small number to remind us how many years we passed on. Our potentiality, skill, capability doesn’t decrease with the increase in Age. Those things get sharpen and more effective due to their regular practice and experience. The main point that matters is our realization, dedication, and enthusiasm to do that work. As always, the greatest power of teenagers that drives them towards success is will-power. Where there is a will, there is a way – irrespective of anything. Thus, “Age is Just A Number”!
